The goal of this dissertation work is the development of a nanofiber membrane for outdoor and sports clothing to increase their comfort properties. Our main task was the creation of a nanofiber membrane with high steam permeability, low breathability and high hydrostatic resistance. The nanomembrane was made from polyamide 6 by electrospinning, after that, hydrophobic treatment was applied to gain high hydrostatic resistance and finally it was laminated with either the top fabric or with the lining fabric. Two- and three-layer laminates were created which protect the nanofiber membrane from damage and at the same time are suitable for creating the final clothing. It was proven that hydrophobic treatment applied only to the surface of the nanofiber membrane is insufficient for high hydrostatic resistance. It is necessary that the hydrophobic additive penetrates the whole structure of the membrane. Our experiments show that contact angle measurements are not a suitable parameter for determining the hydrophobic properties of nanofiber membranes. This dissertation looks in detail at various possibilities for hydrophobic treatment and lamination of nanofiber layers including the penetration of the nanofiber layer by the hydrophobic additive and at the comfort properties of the final nanofiber membrane. This is the first real use of a nanofiber membrane in the clothing industry.
